Normally, juniors and seniors are busy with college preparation plans after graduating high

school.  Not so with Tremaine Easterling (junior) and Alexis Drake (senior).  They are busy

coaching the Geek Tech (a robotic program of Grace Christian School) after school on Tuesdays

and Thursdays.  Tremaine and Alexis are both former robotic students of Mount Olive Ministries

(Purple Thunder) and current students of Mount Olive High School.

Robotics is a branch of engineering that involves the conception, design, manufacture, and

operation of robots.  It is a programmable mechanical device that can perform tasks and interact

with its environment, without the aid of human interaction. Robotics is the science and

technology behind the design, manufacturing and application of robots.

According to Tony C. Duckworth, Sr. (President of Mount Olive Ministries), robotics stimulates

students’ interest to excel in math and science and better prepare them for college careers in

Engineering, Pre-Med, Computer Science and Education through hands-on learning experiences

building and programming robots.

Alexis stated, “she loves teaching and giving back to others.”  Duckworth stated, the program is

in good hands with both students.
